SILT Announces First ‘Showcase’ Farms!
Posted: Thu, May 19, 2016
Iowa’s only land trust dedicated to protecting food farms announces its first SILT Showcase Series, highlighting four Sustainable Iowa Land Trust farms across the state this summer.
Designed for landowners interested in a legacy of sustainable food production, each day includes a farm tour, presentations by an appraiser and an attorney and a free, locally-sourced lunch. Landowners are encouraged to bring questions!
See dates and farms below. Remember to RSVP for lunch!
Let the pros answer your questions.
What does “permanent protection” mean?
How does SILT protection help future food farmers?
Who will buy or rent my land if I protect it?
How do appraisers determine the value of farmland and buildings?

Plus, our hosts will tell their stories of SILT protection too!
